NYSC Evaluation Letter Sample: Form and Online Process
The National University Commission (NUC) has cautioned Nigerians from studying in some schools in Ghana, Niger, Togo, Benin Republic, and so on because most of the tertiary institutions and schools in these countries do not have accreditation.
The NYSC evaluation letter needs to be gotten from the Federal Ministry of Education for you to upload during your online registration.
This letter shows that the institution and course you studied in abroad are duly accredited by the government of that country.
Getting your letter of evaluation is a compulsory requirement for NYSC registration.
During online registration, if you see on your dashboard a notification like “you have not been evaluated yet“, it means you need to upload evaluation letter.
NYSC Evaluation Letter
Here are the steps to collect your evaluation letter in Nigeria:
1. Book an Online Appointment
To book an appointment online, visit the Federal Ministry of Education’s evaluation portal.
Click on “Register”, in the drop-down menu to create an account.
After successful registration, choose “Evaluation of Certificate(s)” to proceed.
When the system prompts you to select the documents for evaluation and specify the number of pages for each, choose and upload your first degree/diploma certificate, academic transcript, o’level certificate showing at least 5 credits, including English and Mathematics, obtained in no more than two sittings.
Ensure all documents are in PDF format and under 5mb in size.
After uploading, make payment online.
Each page of your uploaded document costs ₦5,000.
After payment, select a date and time for your appointment then print both your payment receipt and appointment slip.
Take the printouts along with the originals and four photocopies of these documents to your physical appointment at the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja.

- Bio data page of international passport
- Data page showing departure for school
- Data page showing arrival back to Nigeria
- Admission letter from your school
- Passport photographs
All the documents must be placed in a brown envelope.
2. Arrive Early
Only 80 – 100 graduates are attended to each day.
Arrive at 5:30 am – 7:00am to the Ministry of Education, Abuja to secure the first spot on the attendance list.
Whenever you arrive, wait for your turn.
Take along a book, snacks, or some entertainment to pass the time.
Once your ticket number is called, go inside and present your original documents.
Your documents will be carefully examined, their authenticity verified, and your school accreditation confirmed.
If the officials are satisfied, your photocopies will be collected and your original copies returned to you.
After the evaluation, wait for about 1-2 hours in the office to confirm that there are no errors.
It takes seven business days to one month to reflect.
Keep your original documents safe.
Consider getting the phone number of a member of staff at the Ministry of Education to assist you in tracking your letter.
You can offer a tip for their help when you come to pick it up.
Once your letter is ready, go to the evaluation unit of the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja during working hours.
Locate your name on the list, collect your letter, make 1-2 copies and return the original letter back to the officer.
The Ministry will keep the original letter while you keep the copy.
This copy will be uploaded on the NYSC portal during online registration.
Your original copy will be given to you during the physical verification exercise.
Ensure your institution is accredited before your online registration.

When you get your letter, scan and upload it on your dashboard.
