Documents Needed for NYSC Online Registration

These documents are required for registration and mobilization of Nigerian-trained graduates into the National Youth Service Corps.

1. Degree Certificate

A degree certificate or diploma is awarded by an educational establishment to show that someone has successfully completed a course of study.

This document, issued by your tertiary institution, officially validates your graduation and degree acquisition.

It certifies that you have fulfilled the minimum educational criteria for participating in the NYSC program.

Verify that the name and graduation date on your certificate correspond with the information on your dashboard.

Any discrepancies, particularly on the date of graduation, may cause you being sent back home.

Polytechnic graduates are mandated to provide both their HND and OND certificates or statements of results.

Foreign graduates must present their original certificates for validation.

Your degree certificate is one of the important documents needed for NYSC online registration in Nigeria.

2. Passport Photograph

Prospective corps members should ensure that passport photographs used meet these specifications:

  • General Nigerian passport photo size is 35×45 mm.
  • You must be recognizable in the photograph.
  • Your face must cover 70% of the whole photo and be visible from ear to ear and forehead to chin.
  • When taking a picture, keep your eyes open and mouth closed.
  • Your face (eyes, nose, ears, mouth and jaw) is fully shown without bending.
  • The picture fills the frame and centralized.
  • The photo background is white or off-white with no shadow.

To ensure smooth identification across various services, submit recent passport photographs with a white background.

You’ll need your passports for your meal ticket, bank account opening, SAED registration, and many other important procedures in camp.

Regarding camp registration and other official documents, you only need about 5 to 7 passports for NYSC.

This will save you time and hassle in the long run.

3. National Identification Number (NIN)

The National Identification Number comprises 11 non-intelligible numbers assigned to an individual by NIMC after the completion of enrolment into the national identity database.

NIN is used to match you with your biometric data and other details in the national identity database during verification and authentication.

Once the NIN is assigned to an individual, it can never be reassigned, given, or used by another person–that makes it unique.

The NIN is used to tie all records about an individual in the database and is also used to verify identification.

All citizens and legal residents in Nigeria, from age zero (birth) and above, are eligible to enroll for their NINs.

The National Identification Number (NIN) is a mandatory requirement for corps members registration for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

NYSC insisted that prospective corps members without the identification number would not be mobilized for national service.

The organization said it took the decision during the meeting of NYSC management with the management of the National Identification Management Commission (NIMC).

4. Signature

This is the act of signing one’s name to something.

This is a person’s name written distinctively as identification in authorizing.

Your signature should be written on paper and scan to be uploaded online.
