NYSC
The NYSC PPA Rules and Corps Members Accommodation
The NYSC has a set of rules that corps members must follow in their PPA.
These rules ensure the safety and security of corps members, as well as the smooth running of their place of primary assignments.
NYSC PPA Rules
As a corps member in Nigeria, you should:
- Contact your PPA as soon as possible after receiving your posting letter.
- Introduce yourself, express your interest in working with them, and ask for any specific instructions or requirements they may have.
- Wear your NYSC uniform when you are on official duty.
- Be respectful to your supervisors and the people in your community.
- Do not engage in any illegal activities.
- Do not travel and leave your workplace without the permission of your employer and officials.
- Complete your projects in the allocated time frame.
- Maintain moral conduct throughout your stay.
- Do not change your place of primary assignment without the LGI approval.
- Do not engage in partisan politics.
- Do not use drugs or alcohol while you are on duty.
- Be respectful, polite, and professional with everyone at your PPA. Greet them warmly, address them by their titles or names, and listen attentively to their instructions or feedback.
- Show enthusiasm, initiative, and willingness to learn new things at work.
- Ask questions when in doubt, seek guidance when needed, and offer suggestions when appropriate.
- Be punctual, diligent, and productive at your PPA.
- Complete your tasks on time, meet or exceed expectations, and avoid distractions or excuses.
- Be friendly, cooperative, and supportive. Share ideas, experiences, and resources with fellow corps members.
Accommodation at PPA
If you don’t know anybody in the place you are posted to, where will you shelter yourself on the first day?
The fellowship may give you temporary accommodation, pending the time you will have to get yours.
You could be lucky if your employer gives you a room.
Many of them don’t give corps members accommodation.
So, be prepared to get shelter at your cost.
Tips for Renting an Apartment as a Corps Member
- Get a place close to your place of primary assignment to save transport cost.
- Ensure the person in charge of the house you’re renting is the real person in charge.
