NYSC Documentation Requirements for PPA in Nigeria

For corps members in Nigeria, documentation at the NYSC state secretariat, local government office, and reporting at your PPA is the beginning of your contribution to national development.

At the end of your orientation camp exercise, you will receive your PPA posting letter.

If you applied for relocation in camp, you will not be given a posting letter.

You will first need to be documented at the NYSC secretariat of the state you relocated to.

Your posting letter includes this information:

  • The name and address of your PPA.
  • Your name, age, call-up number, state code, the course you studied, and your expected discharge date.
  • Rules and regulations you are your workplace must adhere to throughout the service year.
  • PPA decision section for acceptance or rejection.
  • Contact information of your Local Government Inspector (LGI) or Zonal Inspector (ZI).

For those that didn’t redeploy after camp, head to your assigned PPA using the address provided in your posting letter.

Upon arriving at your PPA, make a few copies of your posting letter.

These copies should be submitted to the appropriate office in your PPA, such as the Zonal Manager, Head of Administration, or HR department.

After submission, wait for acceptance or rejection from your PPA.

If accepted, the PPA will sign your posting letter, add a comment like “accepted,” and provide you with an official acceptance letter.

This letter contains your personal details, such as your name, call-up number, and state code.

Before you receive the letter, you may be required to sign some documents to confirm your acceptance.

If rejected, your PPA does not have a vacancy for you, they will note “rejected” on your posting letter and provide you with a rejection letter.

Go to your LGI or ZI’s office to submit the rejection letter, it will be forwarded to the state secretariat, and you will receive a new posting letter once processed.

Documentation is important, so as to update your details with NYSC.

This process differs depending on whether you were redeployed from another state or completed the orientation exercise in the same state.

If you stayed in the same state for both orientation and your PPA, documentation can be done at the LGI or ZI office in your local government.

If you were redeployed, documentation must be completed at the NYSC state secretariat in your new state of assignment.

After documentation, your state code will change to your new state and you will be assigned to a local government area, place of primary assignment, and CDS group.

If you have an NYSC registered establishment in mind, before going for your documentation at the state secretariat, visit the organization and get a request letter (the company’s letterhead paper) containing your name and callup number.

At the secretariat, submit all required documents and details which may include original and photocopies of your relocation letter, NYSC ID card, call-up letter, passports, green card, and PPA request letter (optional).

Once your state code changes to a new one, you will submit your old ID card you got in camp and will be issued a new one.

Ensure all your details are officially registered, fill in the book of life and submit your NYSC bank account details you opened in camp to the accounting department.

Once you’re assigned a new PPA and local government, print out the posting letter on your dashboard and go to the organization for acceptance or rejection.

If you are accepted, your acceptance letter will be signed and dated.

In the same way, your posting letter will be signed.

Your PPA will comment on the two letters to indicate that you have been accepted.

The signed posting letter and letter of acceptance will be given to you with your name, call-up number, and state code.

Ensure to make photocopies.

You may be required to sign before collecting the original letter of acceptance.

If rejected, the firm will comment “rejected” on your posting letter, keep one copy and provide you a rejection letter.

Visit an organization that needs a corps member to prevent receiving another rejection letter.

You will be given a request letter if your services is needed.

Even if you were unable to obtain a letter from any company, head over to the LI or ZI offices.

Write a letter of request for reposting and submit it to the state coordinator, the LI, or the ZI.

Your posting letter, the letter of rejection, and any request letters you receive from other firms should be included in the letter.

These documents will be scanned by the LI or ZI and sent to the state secretariat for further processing.

You can then download and print your new posting letter from your dashboard.

Collect the new acceptance letter as well.

After completing your documentation, report back to your PPA.

Your will brief you on your job duties and schedule, so make sure to ask questions if anything is unclear.

Reach out to your Local Government Inspector (LGI) or Zonal Inspector (ZI) if you need guidance along the way.
